Containment Booth Systems

We can provide Drum Sampling and Powder Weigh Containment Booths which are designed, engineered and manufactured to the highest standards utilizing state of the art design and manufacturing processes and techniques. These systems are constructed of a minimum of 16ga. 304 or 316L stainless steel with a #4 finish on all exterior surfaces. Special attention is taken to create seamless surfaces within the chamber.

prod_drum_handling_02High volume HEPA filtration at low wall exhaust collection intakes is standard. Down flow supply air is HEPA filtered to provide Class 100 conditions within operator breathing zones. Fine particle Pre-filtration is provided at exhaust intakes downstream of HEPA filters. Multi-staged pre-filtration is also available.

Complete control and alarm systems are standard and containment booths can be configured for single pass exhaust or re-circulating operation.

Sampling Booth technology should be considered when the ultimate in operator protection for open batch transfers or weighing operations is required. We can provide Sampling Booth systems for a full range of operating conditions and process requirements including:

  • Negative Pressure
  • Single Pass Down Flow with 100% Exhaust
  • Recirculating Closed Loop

All critical containment systems are designed specifically to individual customer process and containment specifications and safety requirements.

Continuous Liner Drum Fill System

prod_drum_handling_09Drum filling is a common occurrence when working with powders in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries. However, sometimes the powder involved calls for a fully contained filling process to either protect the operators or even the powder itself. IEDCO has developed a line of Continuous Liner Drum Fill Systems to allow for completely contained drum filling.

The system can consist of many features to satisfy any project specific requirements, but is typically comprised of the following components:

  • Custom docking station for incoming IBC or similar vessel
  • Powder processing equipment (sifter, magnet, separator, etc.)
  • Rotary valve for accurate feeding to the drum
  • Continuous liner and retainer cartridge
  • Roller track for ease of drum positioning/removal
  • Scale system for precise filling
  • Support frame with controls

prod_containment_02A Dust Cap (or Containment Cap) is a silicone cap which snaps onto a metal collar that has been made a part of a chute, vessel or process. It is typically used to transfer a powder from point "A" to point "B" with full containment of dust during the transfer. Typically, either the discharge point or the receiving point is portable.

The dust cap is normally made a part of the receiving point. An undersized hole is cut in the cap to mate with a metal spigot, which is part of the discharge point. When mated with the undersized hole, the silicone dust cap provides a tight friction fit between the two points.

This results in full dust containment when product is permitted to flow from one vessel to the other. If a scale system is included on either side, the dust cap can also provide the necessary flex connection for accurate weighing.

Dust Cap Specifications

The caps are available in four (4) standard metric sizes: 120mm, 170mm, 250mm and 315mm; however, some custom diameters are available.

All of our Dust Caps are manufactured in the US from FDA accepted silicone rubber and are "natural white" in color. Dust Caps can be custom made with other elastomers to try and meet any chemical compatibility requirements that you might have.

prod_containment_04Containment Collars

Our containment collars are fabricated from 316 stainless steel and are available in either a standard or sanitary configuration. The standard collar has a slitted opening around the entire periphery of the rolled bead ring at the top of the collar. In the sanitary design, this slit is welded over providing a completely sealed and easily cleaned profile.

The standard collar is 50 mm tall for welding to a chute or vessel. Customized lengths and/or transitions can be provided to meet your specific needs.

Installation of Dust Caps

The successful use of a Dust Cap is as good as its fit with the spigot it mates to. If the hole cut in the dust cap is not perfectly round, is oversized, or its edges are not smooth, it will not seal. If it is undersized, it may wear prematurely.

To optimize performance the hole must be cut properly. This tool allows you to cut the holes in the dust caps to the diameter for an optimum fit. Providing you with optimum dust containment.
