Batch Weigh Systems

prod_batch_systems01At the heart of many process systems is the need to accurately weigh out a specific quantity of one or more ingredients for further processing. This procedure is often referred to as dosing, dispensing, or batching.

Automated batch systems and dispensaries substantially improve the efficiency of formulating recipe based product with either loss-in-weight or gain-in-weight technology. IEDCO has a great deal of experience and expertise in this area and can design, manufacture, and integrate batch systems with extremely high accuracies.

prod_batch_systems02Flexibility

Most people know what their batch system needs and specific recipes are today, however, in this ever changing and competitive environment, six months from now you may have to make something you never dreamed of before. This means that designing maximum flexibility into your batch system is the most important part of your batch system investment. Flexibility in this context can affect every aspect of the system. At IEDCO we know how important this is and we design our systems with this in mind.

Scales & Controllers

prod_batch_systems03We do not manufacture our own load cells, scales or controllers. We have standardized on the use of Mettler Toledo, but we are able to integrate your existing company's scale/instrument provider.

IEDCO’s control philosophy is one of affordable sophistication. Some systems do not demand fully automated, hands-free operation and some operations cannot absorb high cost integration. We design and build all our own control systems in our UL Listed panel shop, so we are well equipped to meet your control system needs.

Batch Feeder

prod_batch_systems05A product feeder or valve is at the heart of every batch system. This feed device can take on many forms: screw feeder, belt feeder, vibrating tray, slide gate, or rotary valve. They come in many ranges of sophistication and price. However, we believe that our customers desire a simple, hygienic, and low maintenance solution. To meet this challenge, IEDCO has developed batch systems relying solely on using a sanitary rotary valve as a batch feeder. Using this valve, we have successfully achieved extremely high batching accuracies.

prod_batch_systems10An alternative to our standard Rotary Valve is our custom, tubular Vibratory Feeder. Specially designed to feed product horizontally from a discharge hopper to the receiving container, our vibratory feeder is a simple, safe, and inexpensive choice for getting a controlled feed. The tubular tray and vibratory drive motor can be designed from small to large to accommodate nearly any project specific requirements.

prod_batch_systems06Many existing pharmaceutical facilities deal with their excipient dispensing using manual methods like scooping or pouring material from drums or sacks into a drum or other IBC on a scale. Obviously, this system leaves a lot to be desired from both an ergonomic and containment standpoint, not to mention potential product quality, batch accuracy and documentation issues. Designing a modern, automated dispensary is very desirable and offers many advantages, especially in the context of a new facility that is relatively unrestrained by existing architecture and validation considerations. However, designing such a dispensary is not as easy and straight forward as it may initially seem.

prod_batch_systems07Designing a dispensary is a process. There is no one, right way and every facility has its own set of interests, priorities, space constraints, and personnel preferences. For this reason, designing the dispensary is a process that must begin by understanding and defining all of these variables so that the designer can incorporate and/or address all of them into the initial conceptual proposal. IEDCO has an extensive history of designing pharmaceutical dispensaries that are efficient and economical. We welcome the opportunity to help you with yours.
